These operating instructions are a component of the Mini-Massage Appliance SMMG 4.5 B1 (henceforth designated as the appliance) and they provide you with important information on the intended use, safety, operation and disposal of the appliance. These operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate, and eliminate faults in, the appliance. Retain these operating instructions and pass them on with the appliance to any future owners. Warnings In these extant operating instructions the following warnings are used: WARNING A warning at this risk level signifies a possible dangerous situation. If the dangerous situation is not avoided it can lead to personal injuries. Follow the directives in this warning to avoid personal injuries. 2 SMMG 4.5 B1 Introduction TAKE NOTE A warning at this risk level signifies possible property damage. If the situation is not avoided it can lead to property damage. Follow the directives in this warning to avoid property damage. NOTICE A notice signifies additional information that assists in the handling of the appliance. GB CY Intended use This Mini Massager is intended exclusively for the relaxation and stimulation of muscle masses. This appliance is intended exclusively for use in domestic households and is not intended for commercial or industrial applications. Claims of any kind for damages resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability. SMMG 4.5 B1 3 Introduction / Safety GB CY Items supplied and transport inspection The appliance is delivered with the following components as standard: 1 x Mini-Massage Appliance 1 x Massage attachment 1 x Cooler attachment 3 x Batteries 1.5V Type AA/LR6/Mignon These operating instructions NOTICE Check the contents to ensure that everything is present and for signs of visible damage. If the delivery is not complete or something is damaged due to defective packaging or through transportation contact the Service Hotline (see chapter Service). Safety In this chapter you receive important safety information regarding handling of the appliance. This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect usage can lead to personal injury and property damage. Safety instructions This appliance is intended for personal use and is not a substitute for physiotherapeutic or medicinal treatments. If you are unsure about your current medical condition, obtain advice from your doctor before using the appliance. 4 SMMG 4.5 B1 Safety WARNING - RISK OF INJURY This appliance may not be used ... - by people fitted with heart pace-makers. - by people with heart problems or pains of an unknown origin. - in the event of feverish colds, varicose veins, thrombosis, phlebitis, jaundice, diabetes, nerve ailments such as sciatica, acute inflammations or during pregnancy. - on swollen, inflamed or injured body parts. - for the massage of bones, especially the spine and the skull. - close to the eyes or other sensitive body parts. - on small children. Before use check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not put into operation an appliance that is damaged or has been dropped. Use the appliance only for the described application purposes (see chapter Intended use). The upper surface of the infra red lamp becomes warm when in use. Heat non-sensitive people must therefore handle the appliance with particular caution. GB CY SMMG 4.5 B1 5 Safety GB CY WARNING This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiences in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE Avoid any additional heat sources, for example from direct sunlight, heaters, etc. DO NOT use the appliance in the bath or in the vicinity of water-filled baths, swimming pools or washbasins. Do not expose the appliance to moisture, use it only in dry areas. 6 SMMG 4.5 B1 Safety Interaction with batteries WARNING Risks from improper use! For the safe handling of batteries pay heed to the following safety instructions: Do not throw batteries into a fire. Never short-circuit batteries. Do not attempt to recharge batteries. Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking battery acid can cause permanent damage to the appliance. Special caution should be shown when handling damaged or leaking batteries. Risk of acid burns! Wear protective gloves. Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children. If one is swallowed, seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY. Do not use old and new batteries together. If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the batteries. GB CY SMMG 4.5 B1 7 Appliance description / Handling... GB CY Appliance description Battery compartment lid 2 3 4 5 6 On/Off switch Release button for the battery compartment Infrared Lamp Cooler attachment Massage attachment Handling and operation Inserting the batteries Press the release button of the battery compartment 3 and from the appliance. remove the battery compartment lid Position the fabric strip in the battery compartment and then insert 3 x 1.5 V batteries of type AA/LR6/Mignon. Pay heed the the polarity markings indicated in the battery compartment. Replace the battery compartment lid into place. and then snap it firmly Massage techniques Back Move the appliance to and fro parallel to the spine resp. the shoulder blades. You can massage tensed up areas with circular movements. Neck Massage the neck area with an up and down movement or parallel to the spine. 8 SMMG 4.5 B1 Handling and operation Arms and Legs Massage the muscles with gentle back and forth movements. Body Massage the muscles with gentle circular movements. GB CY Massage attachments Infrared Lamp 4 The infrared lamp 4 may only be used in combination with the massage attachment 6 . Cooler attachment 5 Prior to use, place the cooler attachment 5 in a refrigerator or freezer for about 2 hours. Use the cooler attachment 5 for the recovery of tired muscles. TAKE NOTE The cooler attachment 5 may only be used when the on/ off switch 2 is at the position A. NOTICE Should the cooler attachment 5 be difficult to mount after you have taken it from the refrigerator or freezer, simply wait a few minutes. The attachment is then possible without problem. SMMG 4.5 B1 9 Handling and operation GB CY Massage attachment 6 Used for the stimulation of blood circulation and the relaxation of muscles. NOTICE The massage attachment 6 may be used when the on/off switch 2 is at the position A. Then, massage is done only with vibration. If the on/off switch 2 is at the position B, the infrared lamp 4 is switched on in addition to vibration. Mounting the massage attachments The attachments 5 + 6 are mounted onto the appliance with a bayonet catch. To remove an attachment, turn it until the arrow points to the open padlock symbol and then take it off of the appliance. To mount an attachment, place it on the appliance so that the arrow points to the open padlock symbol . Turn the attachment until the arrow points to the closed padlock symbol . Performing a massage To switch only the massage function on, slide the on/off switch 2 to the position A. To switch the massage function with the infrared lamp on, slide the on/off switch 2 to the position B. To switch the appliance off, slide the on/off switch 2 to the position 0. 10 SMMG 4.5 B1 Cleaning/Storage/Disposal Cleaning/Storage/Disposal Cleaning IMPORTANT Possible damage to the appliance. To avoid irreparable damage, ensure that no moisture can penetrate into the appliance when you are cleaning it. Do not use aggressive cleaners or solvents. They could damage the surfaces. Clean the appliance and its attachments with a soft dry cloth. For stubborn soiling you can also moisten the cloth slightly. GB CY Storage If you do not intend to use the appliance for a long period of time, remove the batteries and store it in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight. SMMG 4.5 B1 11 Cleaning/Storage/Disposal GB CY Disposal Disposal of the appliance Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC-WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre. Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner. Disposing of the batteries Do not dispose of the batteries with household waste. Every consumer is statutorily obliged to dispose of used batteries at a collecting point in his town /district or at a retail company. This obligation is intended to ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
